PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:
We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during the evolving situation surrounding COVID-19. The Provincial Government recently introduced (and updated) guidelines regarding golf courses opening in Alert Level 4. While this communication is lengthy, we feel it vital that we touch on each of the guidelines and what Humber River Golf Club is doing to ensure the health and safety of its members and patrons.
We are certainly entering a unique season during this pandemic. We are very excited and grateful that we can open, but at the same time we recognize that there will be many challenges. It is imperative that we face these challenges together and we all cooperate in following the guidelines provided by our executive team and the provincial government. If we do not adhere to these protocols and requirements, it is possible that we will face significant setbacks, which isn’t a direction any of us wish to entertain. As we are one of the first recreational businesses permitted to open, we all need to realize that we will be closely monitored by government agencies. Without complete cooperation from our members, that could mean an even shorter season.
With all that being said, we look forward to opening and welcoming you all back to Humber River Golf Club. We will do our best to provide as many of the services and amenities as you’ve been accustomed to us providing. Here’s to a unique, but wonderful season, at Humber River Golf Club in 2020.
We are happy to announce that our opening date will be Monday, June 1st. Our fees will remain unchanged compared to last year, with membership fees of $525 + tax. From May 25-31, there will be staff at the course to sell early bird memberships at a price of $500 + tax. In order to purchase your membership, you will need to call the golf course at 709-635-5955 (payments will not be accepted in person prior to June 1). Additional membership options can be found here.
UPDATED OPERATION REGULATIONS:
Based on the government guidelines, HRGC is introducing the following operational guidelines to begin the season of 2020:
- Tee times and power carts must be booked by calling the clubhouse at 709-635-5955. Tee times must be prepaid (unless being booked by a member). There will be no walk-ons and this will be strictly enforced.
- Official tee times will be from 8 am to 7:00 pm daily. Our tee times will remain in 15 minute intervals, however, if you are planning to play 18 holes, you will need to book a separate tee time for your back nine.
- All players, upon arrival, must remain in their vehicle until 15 minutes prior to their tee time. This is to ensure everyone is complying with social distancing orders and to avoid congregating in the parking lot or in front of the clubhouse.
- Do not proceed to the first tee until you have checked with the clubhouse attendant and they have advised you that it is okay to proceed.
- Power carts must be single riders unless residing in the same household or within the same social bubble.
- Flags must remain in the hole at all times and not be touched. Additionally, there is a device in the cups to prevent the ball from dropping to the bottom, please leave these devices in the cups at all times.
- There will be no rakes for the bunkers. As per recommendations by Golf Canada, all bunkers will now be declared “Ground Under Repair”. Players may take free relief outside the bunker area as per Rule 16.1. If you choose to play from the bunker, please try to smooth the bunker area with your foot or club after taking your shot.
- All practice areas will remain closed to start the season. The executive team is in the process of designing procedures to allow the driving range to open.
- Washroom facilities can be accessed through the main entrance. Please knock on the door and the clubhouse attendant will let you in. Access to the clubhouse is only for accessing the washroom and will be limited to one individual at a time.
- Locker rooms, as per government guidelines, will be closed with no exceptions. Any individuals with items in storage can contact the clubhouse beginning May 25th and schedule a time to pick their items up.
- Social distancing on the golf course is a must and that includes within your group. Many courses are encouraging golfers to use the continuous putt method. When a player putts, they continue until their hole is complete, then the next player follows. This will ensure there is adequate distancing between players. Also, never allow 2 groups to be on a tee at one time. If you have finished the hole and the group in front of you is still on the next tee, please wait at the posted signage until they have left the tee to proceed.
- Once your round is complete, we ask that you immediately proceed to your car and exit the premises. This will ensure that there will be no congregating around the clubhouse or parking lot areas.
- Retail sales will be limited to curbside pick-up only. If you wish to purchase food or beverages, please call the clubhouse and pay via credit card. The clubhouse attendant will then leave your purchase in a bag outside the main door of the clubhouse.
- There is a great emphasis on sanitation and cross contamination during this time of COVID-19. Please always try to avoid any common touch points and use proper hygiene etiquette regarding coughing, sneezing and spitting. We expect our members to dispose of all unwanted items in the proper receptacles including garbage, recyclables and cigarette butts in order to protect the safety of fellow golfers and staff. Please do not throw any of these mentioned items on the golf course or leave them on carts.
- All guidelines may be modified over the course of the season, but they will be strictly monitored and enforced. As provincial guidelines update, so will our local operations. Members will be notified as soon as we update guidelines.
